East Harlem small businesses, residents and property owners have been working in partnership with the NYC Department of Transportation since the summer of 2015 to transform the space underneath the Metro-North station at East 125th Street & Park Avenue into an active community plaza. Creative Art Works kicked off the project by brightening the space with the "Harlem Sunrise" mural on the northern wall the former comfort station, and Uptown Grand Central staff now work to clean and maintain the plaza daily. Please join us for our 2017 Summer season:

pop-up snack shop

Monday & Tuesday, Thursday & Friday, 3-7 p.m.
See our sunshine doors open? Make sure to stop by our pop-up snack shop -- where you can try the best from our local small businesses! Offerings change daily, so check our Instagram or Facebook (or the old-school blackboard in the plaza) to see what's on the menu. We'll also have tastings, where you can cast your vote on which items you'd like to see more of.

This program is made possible thanks to support from the Partnership for a Healthier Manhattan, Harlem Community Development Corporation, the NYC SBS Neighborhood 360 program, and the Fresh Taste Initiative from Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer.

Wednesday, 3-7 p.m.
Drop by for a cooking demo to learn new recipes, then take home your own big bag of local, in-season GrowNYC vegetables and fruit for just $12. Pasture-raised eggs, breads from East Harlem's own Hot Bread Kitchen, plus other homegrown items, are also available. Cash, credit/debit & SNAP/EBT accepted -- and if you make your purchase with SNAP/EBT, the bags are "buy one, get one free!" Sign up one week to reserve your bag for the following week's delivery. We also order a few extra bags each week for sale day-of ... if you'd like one, drop by before they sell out! Get all the details on our Fresh Food Box page.

The GrowNYC composting team is now also accepting your food scraps. Click here for more information about how to recycle your food waste into beautiful soil.
