HARLEM NIGHT MARKET

All of Harlem and the Bronx used to travel to La Marqueta to do their shopping: In the 1950s and 1960s, more than 500 vendors packed the stalls with everything from vegetables to traditional medicines, from music to fresh fish.

In December 2019, we made history again, when all of Harlem came together for the first-ever Harlem Night Market, a three-weekend party that celebrated the best of our local small businesses today. There was food both sweet and savory, a makers plaza, a beer garden, twinkly lights, and plenty of music to dance to — including D.J.s TedSmooth, Stormin Norman, Agujita, Tony Touch and D-Nice, and our Make Music New York Jingle Train on the final weekend.
