What happens when you close a street to cars, and open it up to people?
Come find out on Sunday, September 29, from 12-4 p.m., when Party On Park opens the spaces under and along the Park Avenue Viaduct to walk, scoot, bike & more!
This year, we’ll be along Park Avenue from 115th to 111th streets, as well as on 115th between Park & Lex, to make sure we have enough room for fun while the Park Avenue Viaduct Replacement is underway. Scroll below to plan your day:
115TH (LEX & PARK): BIKES & KIDS
BORROW A BIKE: Start at 115th Street & Lexington Avenue, to borrow a bike for free! Citi Bike is for ages 16 and up, while Unlimited Biking will have wheels for kids, while supplies last.
FREE BIKE HELMETS: Get a free helmet fitted specifically for your head size, courtesy of the NYC Department of Transportation and Deputy Speaker Diana Ayala. Note: The line for helmets closes at 3:30 p.m.
FREE BIKE REGISTRATION: Bring your bike from home, and get it engraved with a serial number registered with NYPD.
SAFE STREET ADVOCACY: Envision the future of East Harlem’s streets with Transportation Alternatives.
GROUP RIDE: Join El Barrio Bikes & Randall’s Island Park Alliance for a group ride that will loop through Party On Park and then head to the Randall’s Island Harvest Festival. Register for the ride here.
BOUNCE HOUSES: Lots of bounce options from local small business Busta Bounce Entertainment. Note: The NYPD rock wall has hydraulic issues and is unavailable.
FACEPAINTING & ARTS: Facepainting thanks to the Facepaint Collective, plus craft time with Art in the Park and Struttin’ Buttons, and movement with The Matthew Westerby Dance Company.
STORYTIME: Drop by Literacy Inc. and Read It Or Leave It for stories and resources to develop a love of reading at home.
CIRCUS: Throughout the afternoon, be wowed by unicyclists, stiltwalkers, bubble artists & more from Bindlestiff Family Cirkus.

115TH: viaduct info station
TRANSIT: Under the viaduct at Park Avenue, get the scoop on the Park Avenue Viaduct Replacement project, which is currently replacing sections of the 130-year-old Park Avenue Viaduct as well as La Placita at La Marqueta. You can also meet reps from the Second Avenue Subway project.
FAIR FARES: Learn more about Fair Fares, which allows eligible New Yorkers ride for half price. There’ll also be info about Student OMNY cards and more.
FIRE TRUCK: Explore the fire truck from East Harlem's own Ladder 35, Engine 14 (Heaven In Harlem) and the FDNY Caribbean Society. Note: If you don't see the truck, it's been called away on emergency.
JOB TRAINING: Learn more about free job training with Positive Workforce’s new Positive Learning Center and STRIVE.
LA MARQUETA RETAIL MARKET: Mark the two-year anniversary of La Marqueta’s own Cocotazo by picking up some delicious eats from inside the La Marqueta Retail Market. DJ Monday Blue and Bombazo will be there to help you celebrate!
113TH: health zone
FLU SHOTS & SCREENINGS: Health screenings for nearly every body part -- including flu shots from Walgreens, blood pressure & glucose checks from Boriken Neighborhood Health Center and CUNY School of Medicine, and foot exams from the NY College of Podiatric Medicine.
SERVICES: Learn more about the services offered by the East Harlem COAD, Housing Works, We All Really Matter (WARM), Center for Comprehensive Health Services (CCHP), NYC Health + Hospitals | Carter, Mt. Sinai and OnPoint.
112TH: DANCE ZONE
THE SWEAT PARTY: From 10 a.m.-2 p.m., raise your heart rate with free fitness sessions backed by live DJs courtesy of The Sweat Party. Tickets are free and you can register here.
LIKE NO OTHER FEST: Through 8 p.m., Ted Smooth hits the stage with performances and DJ sets, plus a food court with vendors including Lizzy’s Treats, Murray’s Seafood & JuiceAde. Tickets are free and you can register here.
111th: ARTS, environment & CIVIC ENGAGEMENT
ENVIRONMENT: Check out the new home of local small business Urban Garden Center following its relocation from 116th Street as part of the Park Avenue Viaduct Replacement project. Plus get eco-friendly with GrowNYC, CIVITAS, WE ACT for Environmental Justice, Con Edison and Green & Blue Eco Care. You can also meet GreenThumb and explore the new Villa Santurce Garden.
ARTS: Celebrate the unveiling of a new fiber art installation and join in on community crochet with Carmen Paulino, plus try beadworking with Angel Rays Designs, and learn the history of East Harlem murals with East Harlem Preservation.
CIVIC ENGAGEMENT: Meet reps from Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine, Community Board 11 and NYPD PSA 5. Get involved in your community with the Harlem Neighborhood Block Association. Also say hello to Union Settlement’s new Family Enrichment Center that just opened up down the block, along with other Union Settlement programs.

111TH: skateboardS & FITNESS
FITNESS: Wellness to get your body and brain moving, from East Harlem’s own Harlem Kettlebell Club and new small business Ofrenda Yoga.
SKATEBOARDS: Pad up and try out a skateboard, with a beginner clinic from our friends from Bronx Girls Skate and the Harold Hunter Foundation. Skateboards and safety gear will be provided for the sessions, while supplies last.
