Giannina Gutierrez is a mixed-media artist based in East Harlem. Born in Barranquilla, Colombia, and growing up in NYC, she draws from her vast palette of experiences, inspirations and landscapes to shape her ideas and inform her often dreamlike work. For Grandscale she has created a surrealistic garden, using lots of bright colors and floral, plant shapes.

Caryn Cast

Caryn Cast creates murals, chalk portraits, and illustrations that often entail whimsy and animals doing “people things.” Her murals wind up in unusual places, anywhere from street alleys to restaurant bathrooms to cooking shows. Her mural for Grandscale is a tribute to singer, songwriter and guitarist Sister Rosetta Tharpe.

Allison Ruiz & BC

Al Ruiz is a classically trained painter who has lived in both the Bronx and Harlem. Her work takes a deep look at the human condition and its nuances. BC is a graffiti artist who got his start tagging trains in the Bronx and now exhibits in galleries and exhibits citywide. For Grandscale, the two teamed up to create this tribute to Tito Puente that has been recognized by Tito’s children, Audrey Puente and Tito Puente, Jr.

Saint Soho

Steven Rodriguez was born in Spanish Harlem and considers The Puerto Rican Day parade and festival his favorite childhood memories. As an artist, his goal is to paint a saint in every neighborhood, as inspiration to others to believe in the saint in themselves. For Grandscale, he painted his signature Saint character to watch over the neighborhood.

Victor Ramos got his start as a graffiti artist at the age of 11, and has spent nearly 50 years sharing his work that often includes urban streetscapes. For Grandscale, he created a New York City landscape.

Shanequa Benetiz, also known as QUA, was raised in housing projects in Yonkers, where she confronted the harsh realities of the drug trade from a tender age. Since winning a housing lottery nearly a decade ago, she has lived in East Harlem and has worked as a mural artist and in fashion. Her work personifies the resilience inherent in adversity and also often incorporates the theme of being a “black sheep” or outsider. Her piece for Grandscale features one of her characters, a resilient bear wearing boxing gloves.

Adam Bomb

Adam Bomb was born and raised in Spanish Harlem, and has been making art all of his life. His four children motivate him to keep creating. His piece for Grandscale is representative of his work, featuring graffiti with a floral theme.

Marthalicia Matarrita

Marthalicia Matarrita grew up in Harlem during the late 1970s, and now makes her home in the Bronx. Her piece for Grandscale is a portrait of an Indigenous woman to honor the Lenape people who maintained this land before colonization.

Dario Mohr

Dario Mohr’s work involves the creation of "sacred spaces" and immersive sanctuary experiences that reference his heritage. His piece for Grandscale is reflective of his own queer and Caribbean identity as a first-generation Grenadian-American.

Alexis Duque

Alexis Duque was born in Medellin, Colombia, and now makes his home in upper Manhattan. His piece for Grandscale features detailed, dreamlike fantastical elements, such as floating planets, anthropomorphic flora and fauna, and impossible architectural landscapes that juxtapose urban structures with exuberant nature and surreal narratives. The mural highlights sustainable and ecological ways to preserve the health of the planet.

Jocelyn Goode

Supergoode has lived in East Harlem since 2020 and has connected to her community by creating rollerskate experiences in Thomas Jefferson Park. As an artist, she creates works and maintains a practice that seeks to stimulate the imaginations of others — producing art and experiences that inspire, validate and amaze. Her piece for Grandscale is a pop of pink featuring four rollerskaters in various poses of skate-dance.
