PLEASANT AVENUE OPEN STREET

For the month of October, also check out our newest Open Street, on Pleasant Avenue between 118th and 119th.

Pleasant Avenue has what we are billing as the “world’s longest” community table, with two rows of yellow dining tables stretching down the block.

Bring food from home, or get table service from local small business Bistro Casa Azul. During Harlem Restaurant Week, we’ll also feature pop-ups by local eateries including Mountain Bird, La Fonda Boricua, SpaHa Soul & Sapoara.

The wide avenue is open during all our open hours for scooting, biking or skating, plus you can find:

— Movie nights sponsored by MAP at Wagner Houses (Friday evenings)

— “Pick your own” produce sales at Pleasant Village Community Garden (Saturdays, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.)

— Health screenings by MAP partners (Saturdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.)

— Free smoothies by the Get Healthy East Harlem Cafe (Saturdays & Sundays, Noon-5 p.m.)

— Zumba with Leo Zumba (Saturdays, 2 p.m.)

— Active play and art by Street Lab, playground: NYC, Art In the Park & the U.S. Tennis Association (Sundays, 12-3 p.m.)

Special thanks to Building Healthy Communities, MAP at Wagner, the Manhattan Borough President’s Office, Street Lab, playground: NYC and Art In the Park for their support.
