Location: 125th b/t Park & Madison

Eric Capers grew up in The Bronx during the 1970s, steeped in the arts renaissance of graffiti artists using burned-out buildings as their canvases. Fascinated with this new art form, he started his own journey into the world of graffiti art and began writing "Cape," a shortened version of his last name, as an homage to Cope, his favorite writer. After several run-ins with law enforcement, E moved on from walls and trains to legal art. While you can still spot an old "Cape" tag in classic 1990s movies including "New Jack City" and "Juice," E is now the creative director of Art In The Park, a local nonprofit that works to engage youth in beautifying their neighborhood.

BC is a graffiti artist who was born and raised in Spanish Harlem, and got his start tagging trains in the Bronx. He now exhibits in galleries and exhibits citywide. By 1979, he was doing graffiti in and around his neighborhood, then in 1982 began tagging the C and D train lines, moving to the 6 line by 1983. Advised by the Vandal Squad to stop hitting the 6, he then teamed up with Hektad to hit every line possible, with his alias WIN 1 TTR (Time Ta Rock) for productions. His piece for Grandscale features what he calls “cosmic flowers,” a new take on the flower patterns for which he is known.
