Lexington Avenue in the lower 100s is known as East Harlem’s “Restaurant Row” — with cuisines including Mexican, Brazilian, Thai and Italian, plus seafood, barbecue, juices, coffee and wine. And yes, one shop each dedicated exclusively to mousse, carrot cake and ice cream!
This summer, we’re popping up from June through August, with Open Street Saturdays on 101st Street featuring Storytelling, Crafts & Live Music, plus other special events. On 100th Street, there’s First Friday Movie Nights on 100th Street on the first Friday of each month.

Bring the whole family for shorts and feature-length films thanks to with ImageNation and the International Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival. We’ll kick each evening off at 7:30 p.m. with Corine’s Famous Bingo, featuring prizes from Restaurant Row businesses. The movies will start at about 8:30 p.m. with the setting of the sun.

KIDS LEARN-TO-RIDE ON SELECT SATURDAYS, FROM NOON-2 P.M.
Bike Skills 101: Learn to Ride Kids is a free group class hosted by Bike New York and CIVITAS for children age 5 and up who are ready to ditch their training wheels and ride a two-wheeler for the first time. With a safe, easy, effective method taught by experienced Bike New York instructors, kids will learn how to balance, pedal, start, stop and steer a bicycle. Most students get the hang of it in one session, but even if they don’t, parents will leave equipped with an easy, low-stress technique that will have their kids riding independently in no time. Our party will feature live music at small businesses along Lexington Avenue, including MY NY Bakery (with the band Inti & The Moon, from 3-5 p.m.) and Sugar Hill Creamery (with Kumbakin, from 3-5 p.m.). At the Open Street, there’ll be a kids dance party with Daniel’s Music Foundation (3-4 p.m.), a jam with Bruce Edwards & the Uptown Groove (5-7 p.m.), plus a preview of The Harlem Project by the Matthew Westerby Dance Company (4:45 p.m.).
