Pack your favorite picnic dish and follow the Design Trust for Public Space to Harlem to learn more about how Uptown Grand Central is enriching the East 125th Street corridor.
For one summer evening, the space under the train tracks will be transformed for communal dining!
Since the summer of 2015, Uptown Grand Central has worked in partnership with the NYC Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) to transform the space underneath the Metro-North station at East 125th Street & Park Avenue into an active community space. From hosting Turnout NYC, a season of local public arts, to providing a GrowNYC Fresh Food Box stand every Wednesday, the plaza is an exciting demonstration of the vast potential for neglected spaces under NYC's transit infrastructure.
Design Trust’s Public Space Potlucks gather urban enthusiasts of all ages and backgrounds together for a shared meal and to learn more about public space initatives across the five boroughs.
The event is free and open to the public. Please bring a dish to share if you can! We will provide some snacks, drinks, cups, plates, napkins, etc.
