This Sunday, get out to explore some of East Harlem's best Mexican food, when Mexican-owned businesses across El Barrio celebrate the Day of the Dead.
Many locations have already started setting up their ofrendas, or altars, and they'll be on display through November 2 for the holiday. On your route: Cafe Ollin, Cascalote Latin Bistro, El Paso Restaurant, The People's Church, Quesadillas Dona Maty, Hot Jalapeno, La Chula, El Kallejon, Sapoara and Bistro Casa Azul.
Also drop by Panaderia San Agustin for pan de muertos, and Azteca Western and 116th Street Flowers for traditional decor. Mexico Travel will have candy for kids, and Street Lab will be on-site at our Pleasant Avenue Open Street, creating Dia de los Muertos chalk art.
For dancing, to learn how to build your own altar or to play loteria, also visit El Museo del Barrio's programming online.
